The search engine AltaVista has been my favorite since it was released in December 1995. In this epinion I will show how changing ownership and changing goals decreased its value and why I finally had to stop using AltaVista.

When I need to search the web, I use DirectHit or Copernic. It has been a few years since AltaVista was my tool of choice for that task. Recently I found good reason to put AltaVista back into service.
