Pros: So many things to do and yet relax in solitude Cons: Nothing major I can think of

Pros: Well developed park offering accommodations, food and activities Cons: Food was very terrible, parking was a challenge
We visited Unicoi State Park near Helen, Georgia in October 2006 during a “ladies only” weekend to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday. We did not stay at the Unicoi Lodge, but visited there. The lodge is a large building set back some acres from the ...

Much to do and see in and around Unicoi by bobcat00 ,Jan 19 '04
Pros: Near Helen; near many other parks and wilderness areas; lots to do in local area Cons: Can't think of any - just bring really warm clothes if you go during winter.
The park was beautiful and had several great trails, streams, and a lake. It is unusual to find such a great park near a town. It was nice to drive 5 minutes into Alpine Helen for a meal or to check out the shopping. Some of the best hiking trails I have ever been on are within 30 minutes of Unicoi. We used the map the park gave us to check out other parks and take scenic drives. There were antique stores and road side vendors selling cider and hot boiled peanuts everywhere we went in the area.
We were there in Jan. 04 and there were about 10-12 campsites occupied in the whole park. It was great. Restrooms were clean and grounds were well kept.
